App Management is a macOS privacy setting. It controls which apps can change other apps, such as moving or updating them. When you try to remove an app, macOS may ask you to allow the removing app to manage others. Allow it only if you trust the app doing the removal.
Why macOS asks
macOS protects apps from being changed by other software without your permission. Removing an app counts as a change, so macOS can ask first. The question is about the app doing the removing, not the app being removed.
Quick steps to allow it
- Open System Settings.
- Click Privacy & Security.
- Scroll to App Management.
- Turn on the app that is doing the removing.
One-time purchase. Works on macOS 15 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
What to do if you change your mind
Turn the switch off again in the same place. The app then cannot manage other apps until you allow it.
Warning: Only allow apps you trust. Permission to manage other apps can remove or change them.
What this permission does not cover
App Management is separate from Full Disk Access and Accessibility. Uninstallzy does not ask for Full Disk Access or Accessibility. It asks only what it needs to move the app you choose to the Trash.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to allow App Management to remove an app?
Sometimes. macOS asks only for some apps. If you see the question, allow it only for the app you trust.
Where is App Management in the settings?
Open System Settings, click Privacy & Security, then scroll to App Management.
What happens if I say no?
The app may not be able to remove the other app. You can try again later, or use Finder instead.
Want one simple step instead?
Uninstallzy shows every app with its size. Pick the app, confirm once, and it goes to the Trash.
